[mood | disappointed]
[music |"Dirty Little Secret" by The All American Rejects]

I was supposed to be graduating today. But I'm not.

I fear I shall be pensive today.

[music |"Fix You" by Coldplay]

Why do I do things that I know will cause me significant pain?

When will I learn?

When will I learn to just trust some of the people around me to actually care about me and not be trying to hurt me?

[Current Location |The Living Room]
[music |"Rocking the Suburbs" - Ben Folds]

Exam results were fine, especially considering how late some of my essays were. I knew I rocked those exams and the results definitely show that.

In other news, I think I've really screwed up this time. I might have lost a very important person and I don't know what I can do to get that friendship back to normal.

Oh, and just a question, how do you tell someone, "Even though I haven't pulled in a while and would like to, there's no way I'm going to sleep with you; I'd rather be celibate for the rest of my life," without really pissing them off to the extent that you can't still be friends?

I Don't Care Who Sees This [May. 8th, 2006|11:28 pm]
"Where Does the Good Go"
by Tegan and Sarah

Where do you go, with your broken heart in tow?
What do you do with the left over you?
How do you know when to let go?
Where does the good go? Where does the good go?

Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive
Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go
Look me in the eye and promise no love's like our love
Look me in the heart and unbreak broken
It won't happen

It's love that leaves and breaks
The seal of always thinking you would be
Real happy, and healthy, strong and calm
Where does the good go? Where does the good go?

Where do you go when you're in love, and the world knows?
How do you live so happily while I am sad and broken down?
When do you say it's up for grabs and that you're on your way down?
Where does the good go? Where does the good go?

My birthday present from the world this year was the realisation that it's not me; it's him. Oh, and that I fucking hate people who make up stuff about me and tell it to people they have no business saying such bollocks to.

Despite all this, I am pretty happy.

Anyone who saw my garden at any point in the last few days could imagine the stress Laura and I underwent when the doorbell rang and a workman was there asking about our fence...and then said, "Oh I guess your landlord isn't here yet."

Luckily, it was the landlord of number 48. But yes, we did have an absolute CORONARY.

It's my birthday, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I am entitled to do whatever the hell I want...which includes:
* My bad TV quota
* Backgammon
* A bit of revising of stuff I like
* Asking a boy out to dinner.

Hmm. Good day I think. Time for my breakfast...of frozen garlic bread and champagne. :)

I was watching This Morning and I just saw one of their crew guys demonstrate how to check for testicular cancer. He got one of his testicles out on national television and checked it.

You think that he was given a massive bonus for having to do that?

So this is the first post in a very long time and I have some very good news.

First of all, my debating is starting to come back in a very big way. I have a new partner, Rebecca, and the two of us - though I'm a bit rusty and she hasn't been to training since October and it was her first ever IV. We finished as the third St Andrews team on the team tab. WOOHOO! We'll be going to Edinburgh and totally kicking ass.

Second of all, my belief that there are some genuinely good people in the world has been reaffirmed. I've spent the last week walking around in a daze preparing myself for the worst and wondering what exactly will happen when it all came down to it. Then out of nowhere came a phone call from a friend I had e-mailed asking for advice. There is something to be said about someone who just knew the right thing to do - even when I had no idea of it myself.

What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Several things I'd rather not mention and gotten the drunkest I've ever been.

Did you keep new year's resolutions and will you make more next year?
I don't really believe in New Year's Resolutions - I'm trying to be one of those "One Day At A Time" people, but I will probably make some this year.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. 3 people actually.

Did anyone close to you die?
Kind of.

What countries did you visit?
Malaysia, UK, US, Iceland.

What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005
A bit more sanity and love to be quite honest.

What dates from 2005 will remain etched in your memory and why?
March 3rd - my life changed forever
May 7th and 8th - my birthday celebrations
June 14th - trip to New York
October 14th - personal reasons I won't mention
December 11th - Got tired of holding on

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Returning to St Andrews.

What were your biggest failures this year?
Letting people I love down in ways I should have and wish I had prevented.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
Glandular fever was the big one.

What was the best thing you bought?
My pink dress.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Bob, Laura, Bryn, Henry, Pam, Cusack, My parents, Connie, Tyler, Stuart, Zeina

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Not things I wish to mention.

What did you spend most of your spare cash on?
Coffee or computer gadgets

Compared to this time last year are you happier or sadder?
Happier

Thinner or fatter?
Thinner.

Same.

Studying, being happy

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Loads.

No.

How many one-night-stands?
Erm. Um. Let's just say none.

Haircut [Dec. 22nd, 2005|01:16 pm]
Despite my mother's protestations ("But your hair looks so good, you shouldn't change it!") I got my hair done yesterday. The colour is about the same as it was before, but there is a difference. I now have fringe (bangs for my American audience). It's quite a swooping fringe as well. This may take some getting used to.

In other news, I'm not sure if my 12 days were enough time at home. I've been seeing a lot of people but I don't know if I'm going to be able to see everyone and that makes me sad. I also now believe that British soaps are far superior to American soaps. I miss Neighbours, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Eastenders. I think that very well may be the saddest sentence I've ever typed.
